Spotify surpasses 40 million paying subscribers

Streaming, using sites such as Spotify, has become for the first time the top money-maker for the U.S. recorded music business.

Swedish streaming music giant Spotify said Wednesday it had surpassed 40 million paying subscribers, consolidating its position as world leader. “40 is the new 30 Million,” the company’s co-founder Daniel Ek tweeted.
