MONTREAL — Patrick Huard and Colm Feore say reuniting for the filming of “Bon Cop Bad Cop 2” has been a blast.

Huard, who stars in the movie and is also its writer and one of its producers, says the comedy will provide action galore.

“It’s going to be five times the action, five times the humour, I hope,” Huard told The Canadian Press in a recent on-set interview.

“Those two guys have changed, and they became a little more like the other one. It makes for a more complex story.”

Added Feore: “We’ve been cross-contaminated.”

“Bon Cop Bad Cop” was released in 2006 and saw the two cops working together to solve a murder when the victim is found on the Quebec-Ontario border.

The film earned $12 million at the box office, making it what its production team called the most successful Canadian film in history.

In the sequel, Quebecer David Bouchard and Ontarian Martin Ward once again team up — this time to put an end to a ring involved in stealing cars. They soon discover the ring is a front for something much bigger.

The dynamic between the duo will have changed as Bouchard will be under Ward’s command, with Feore’s character now an RCMP officer.

“It’s great to be back together and it’s great to have found a wonderful comfort zone where we didn’t have to spend any time re-introducing each other, we just got started,” said Feore.

Director Alain DesRochers said the French-English rivalry seen in the first instalment will be replaced by collaboration between the two, with a Canadian-American rivalry taking centre stage.

He added having a larger budget has been a lot of fun as he’s been able to play around with special effects. He said the film would include a Buster Keaton-inspired scene.

“I’m so happy, because of the action, because of the collaboration between the actors,” said DesRochers.

“There’s a great energy. The whole team is into it.”

Noam Jenkins, who plays “bad guy” Sylvio DiPietro, says working on the set has been a lot of fun.

“There’s a sense of fun and I really hope that translates on the screen,” said Jenkins.

His character is an English-speaking entrepreneur who happens to be a sociopath involved with the Mob.

Other Canadian actors in the film include Lucie Laurier, Sarah-Jeanne Labrosse, Mariana Mazza and Marc Beaupre.

“Bon Cop Bad Cop 2” is set to be released in the summer of 2017.
